How to use MockSetu for JEE Main preparation

Work backwards from your session. Start at one full-length paper a fortnight from around six months out, accepting that parts will be unattempted — an early mock measures navigation, pacing and three-hour stamina, none of which need a finished syllabus. When is JEE Main 2027?

NTA has not released the official 2027 calendar. Based on recent cycles, Session 1 is expected in the second half of January 2027 with registration opening around late October or early November 2026, and Session 2 in April 2027. Treat every date circulating before the information bulletin — including these — as a planning assumption rather than an announcement.

Is there negative marking in JEE Main Section B?

In recent cycles, yes — one mark is deducted for an incorrect numerical answer, unlike earlier years when Section B was penalty-free. Because there is no option list to eliminate from, a blind guess at a numerical value is close to pure loss. Confirm the rule in the bulletin for your cycle.

How many marks are needed for 99 percentile in JEE Main?

Historically around the mid-hundreds out of 300, but the figure moves every cycle with candidate numbers and paper difficulty. Percentile is your position among candidates in your own shift, not a percentage of marks, so treat any specific number as an indicative band and train against a raw-marks target with a fifteen-to-twenty-mark buffer.

Does a harder JEE Main shift lower my score?

No. Percentiles are computed within your own shift, so a harder paper means fewer candidates in that shift scored well and the percentile attached to any given raw mark rises. The top scorer in every shift receives a percentile of 100 regardless of that shift's difficulty, which is why shift-hunting is wasted effort.

Has the 75 percent criteria been removed for JEE Main?

No. Admission to NITs, IIITs and other centrally funded institutes through JoSAA requires at least 75 percent aggregate in Class 12 or a place in the top twenty percentile of your board — 65 percent for SC and ST candidates. It was waived in some pandemic-affected cycles, which is why claims of permanent removal still circulate.
